Chinese Shiwan Hexagonal Ginger Jar. Remnants of some sort of artwork on the unglazed area at the base. Apparently there was a trend back in the day to decorate the unglazed areas, could well be that. Nice understated colour to this one. Jars such as this are associated in NZ with the influx of Chinese prospectors in the gold rush years. This does have a worn Chinese stamp to the base. I have a few other ginger jars too.
